Christian Surfers SA

Winter Update

Take a huge set wave with us as we reflect on our winter season as an organization. Get excited with us for what God has done.

First off contest season....

Jbay Classic

What a privilege and an honour it is to serve event organisers and our hero’s in the surfing world. So exciting to have volunteers outside of the Christian Surfers mission coming alongside to help volunteer. We had volunteers from the Wave Point Foundation and from The 9 Miles Project. Check them out via these links Wave Point Foundation / 9 Miles.

Ballito Pro

The Ballito Pro was one for the books.

Not only were we able to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we served, but we also got to engage with after event activities, such as hosting a bible study, hosting a movie night, connecting with local pastors and local surfers.

We had the opportunity to welcome two awesome Godly men from the Genesis Wave Of Hope Foundation and a volunteer from CS Durban and CS Strand.

On our last days of the trip heading back to J-bay, we got to do a little road trip. We surfed new waves, ate sugar cane, met new people, and got to join other saints in gathering around something new that God is doing in East London.

SA Longboard Champs

We had the privilege of serving at the SA longboard champs being held just up the road from J-bay at Seal Point in Cape St Francis. We stayed onsite for the full 6-day event and had an epic crew of volunteers from the CSALT program. We helped with setup and food service, and some of our previous volunteers were even asked to work in official roles like Beach Marshalling, and spotting.

The surf was cooking all week and it was great to see families from all over South Africa gather at Seal Point to cheer each other on. It was great to take the time in and around the event to visit a local church, have surfs together, and connect with the judges and officials outside of the contest hours.

Thank you to the volunteers and thank you to the organisers for having us.

World Kneelo Champs

We had a little 3 man service team at the kneeboard World Champs. It was a simple time serving the officials by making sure that everyone received their food, updating the scoreboard, and helping with the breakdown of the event site at the end of each day.

Sometimes we are so used to having a big team and helping out with so much more, but we forget just to meet the need. Jesus is the true hero of the story and whatever way we can be his hands and feet we need to answer that call.

Thanks, Lollie, Crusoe, and Rian for taking the time to serve behind the scenes.

National Camp....

Surfers and Skaters from across South Africa and from many different organisations all gathered under one roof to worship God and to glean from each other and be inspired to impact their local communities to advance God’s kingdom.

Origin Of A Legacy

We have released a new interview series that tracks the history of how Christian Surfers
South Africa was started.

In the words of our very own James Le Roux who documented and filmed every interview:
The biggest takeaway was to see people who made themselves available for God to use
them. It didn’t matter about their circumstances but their desire to reach their beach and
God’s calling over their lives. Their obedience in following God’s calling back then was not
based on their capability but rather their availability to be used by God.

This has forged a path of a legacy that we now get to walk in.

Follow the link bellow and watch away as you get to know the unique stories of how God was moving amongst the surfers of South Africa. May you be inspired by what has been done and for what is still yet to come.

Christian Surfers Jefferys Bay has launched....

Yay! There is officially a new CS Chapter and J-bay the home of Christian Surfers South Africa, finally has a local chapter. We are thrilled to have Daniel Neethling head up the local chapter. We have had some soft launch events and are keen to see consistency in the gatherings and see the groms empowered to reach their beach. Here are some snap shots of the fun we have already had.

And last but not least the new Surfers Bible has officially launched....

How epic is it that we have a personalized bible that speaks to us as surfers? Even better a missional tool in our hands to reach those that don’t yet know Jesus. Last Year we raised funds for the international, “Surfers Bible” Project.
It is cool to know that not even a year later the Bibles have arrived on our doorstep from Australia. We have not had a Surfers Bible since 2018 and we are excited to see how this missional tool will greatly impact the surfing communities of South Africa.

Thank you to all of those who supported this project. We could not have done this without your help and support.
