We were super blessed to be able to go on the Christian Surfers West Coast camping trip. The camp started off with an epic day of surfing cooking waves at Elands Bay. Having pitched the tent the new friendships began to form immediately. With a braai every night, the vibe was really set right with friendly fellowship and a very relaxing atmosphere. Every campfire brought encouraging stories and testimonies from fellow surfers, giving all of us fuel for our daily lives and our walk with the Lord.
With loads of group surf sessions in the mornings and evenings, and a surf relay in the afternoon, the fellowship never stopped. The topic we discussed in our small groups was all about eternity and how God has “planted eternity in the human heart” (Eccl. 3:11). We found it very encouraging to know that “only in Heaven, will every bit of sorrow and suffering be relieved.” (Revelation 21:4). We also talked about the implications that the reality of eternity should have on our lives: It should certainly affect the way we seek to obey God’s purpose for our lives in serving and influencing others.
We were all impacted greatly by the special time away from the business of life, having no worries about business or what’s next on the to-do-list, and it was such a blessing to have time to focus solely on God in such an amazing environment with other Christians. I can’t think of a better way to have spent my weekend then camping with Christian Surfers on the West Coast. God’s presence was truly there with us!
